What’s your favourite smell in the museum? What emotions accompany you when you unwrap the long-awaited exhibits? Which work of art from our collection makes you laugh most and why? There’s one day a year when you can ask the curators from around the world anything you want!
We realise that approaching a curator with a question during an exhibition opening or a lecture may be a bit awkward, and that direct contact is not always possible. But we want to make our collection available to the widest audience possible and we’d love to share our knowledge about it with anyone interested. That is why 14 September is the sixth time we have taken part in the #AskACuratorDay campaign! Are you intrigued by an element of a painting you saw in a museum or a gallery? Do you want to know how to become a curator? Do you want to gain secret knowledge about an object, possessed only by a person who looks after the museum collections? Ask us! Our curators will welcome the opportunity to reflect on their daily work and will eagerly contribute to raising awareness about what it is that a curator does.
#AskACuratorDay is an international venture with hundreds of participating museums and galleries from around the world, including a few from Poland, e.g. the Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw, the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow, the Museum of Eroticism or the Museum of Decorative Arts and Crafts in Poznań. It is also a great opportunity for museum employees to share their experiences and contacts 🙂
